In other words, a bot "friend" is an alternative version of oneself - even if it is supposedly of the opposite sex - and its role is to reassure, rather than to give helpful advice.

I came here while looking for a "virtual friend", but something more than a mere bot. Perhaps you are looking for the same thing, and have concluded, as I have, that a bot is actually a creation of the information that is fed to it.
